Frequently Asked Questions About Floor Refinishing
Q. How Long Does The Refinishing Process Take For Hardwood Floors?
A. The amount of time it takes to refinish your floors is going to vary a bit from job to job depending largely of how big the job is and what type of polyurethane you're using. Oil-based sealant often takes a bit longer to dry, often 3 to 4 days, as opposed to water-based sealants which usually take about two days to dry completely.
Q. Is There A Lot Of Dust When Sanding The Floors?
A. The process of refinishing hardwood floors can be a bit messy, but here at Dustless Sanding NJ, our floor refinishing process ensures that the amount of dust produced during the process is kept to a minimum and cleaned up as quickly as it's produced.
Q. Can You Change The Color Of My Hardwood Floors?
A. If you're looking to change the color of your hardwood floors, the refinishing process is the perfect time to do so. During the process of refinishing your hardwood floors, there are a number of different stains you can have applied that can change the color tone of your wooden floors to something that meshes better with the overall aesthetic of your home, or just appeals more to your personal sense of style.
Q. Do I Need To Move My Furniture?
A. Some customers prefer to move their furniture themselves, while others prefer that we move it for them. Whichever method you decide on, your furniture will have to be moved off of the floors that need to be refinished before any work can begin.
Q. When Can We Walk On The Newly Refinished Floors Again?
A. Generally, we recommend that you wait at least 24 hours after the application of the final coat before walking on your floors again. For the first 24-48 hours, we recommend that you use socks only, after which time you can walk around in shoes or bare feet once more. It's also recommended that you give your floors at least two days before allowing pets to walk about on them.
